It’s one of the questions I get asked the most…
“Do you take supplements?”
And the answer might surprise you.
No. I don’t.
Not because they don’t have a place — but because for most people, they’re not the thing that actually moves the needle.
⸻
1. The Basics Work (If You Actually Do Them)
Before anything else, I focus on what really matters:
• Moving regularly
• Training through different planes of movement
• Lifting weights
• Eating mostly whole foods
• Staying hydrated
Nothing fancy. No shortcuts. Just consistency.
Because the truth is — these are the things that actually change your body.
⸻
2. I’m Not an Elite Athlete… And That Matters
I train to feel good, stay strong, and keep up with life — not to compete at the highest level.
So my approach reflects that.
If you’re not an elite athlete either, you probably don’t need a complicated, supplement-heavy routine.
You need something that fits your life.
⸻
3. The 80/20 Approach Keeps Me Consistent
I live by an 80/20 rule:
• 80% of the time I’m on it
• 20% I enjoy life without overthinking it
That applies to:
• Food
• Training
• Sleep
• Work/life balance
And that balance is what keeps things sustainable.
⸻
4. Perfect Isn’t Real Life
Some days I miss a workout.
Some days my sleep isn’t great.
Some days my nutrition could be better.
And some days? I absolutely nail it.
That’s real life.
The difference is — I don’t let the “off” days derail everything. I just keep going.
⸻
5. Could I Be Better? Yes. Do I Need To Be? No.
Of course I could:
• Train harder
• Be stricter with food
• Cut out things I enjoy
But I don’t want to.
I’m happy. I feel good. I’ve found a balance that works for me, my life, and my family.
Would supplements make a difference?
Maybe… a small one.
But they don’t replace effort, consistency, or the basics — and they definitely don’t create balance.
⸻
The Bottom Line
There are no hidden extras.
No magic powders.
No shortcuts.
Just straightforward training, simple nutrition, and a realistic approach you can actually stick to.
And that’s exactly what I help people do.
